Winter with us, sustainably, in New Zealand
Rest assured that while the weather outside may be cold, wet and wild, and you may enjoy shredding the snow on the ski fields, you can return to luxurious warmth and comfort in one of our stunning villas.
With one of our main focuses on sustainability, while you’re keeping warm, you can feel good knowing that your stay is treading lightly on the planet.
The South Island is ideal for skiing, particularly Queenstown and Wānaka, while the North Island tends to provide milder, wetter weather and geothermal hot pools.
Te Toka Private Villa - Queenstown
Winter activities: Close to the slopes for skiing or snowboarding. Also close to top tier vineyards for those who prefer a robust red and the indoors during the winter months.
Sustainable features: solar panels, water tanks, locally made carbon-negative, New Zealand-grown timber, insulated concrete form walls, Vulcan screens.
The location: It’s no secret that Queenstown is one of the world’s top tourist destinations. People are drawn here for the unique combination of natural beauty, adventure and luxury.
The property: Named Te Toka (Māori for ‘The Rock’), this stunning property is as solid and enduring as the rocky land it rests on. But beyond its rugged foundation, this villa offers a luxurious and serene retreat, where panoramic views, chic design and refined comforts create an experience as beautiful and timeless as the landscape itself.
Te Toka has everything guests could wish for; it’s big enough to host large families or groups but cosy enough to snuggle up fireside. It can accommodate up to ten guests; it has four sumptuous suites, all ensuite with super-king beds and private seating areas, and a separate one-bedroomed self contained unit, perfect for accompanying personnel or companions seeking additional privacy.
Minaret Alpine Lodge - Wanaka - South Island
Winter activities: set within a remote glacial valley, only accessible by helicopter, guests can enjoy quiet, fresh air, open space, guided hikes, hot tub relaxation, and privately catered food and beverages.
Sustainable features: Drawing inspiration from traditional high country homesteads and musterer’s huts, the Lodge was built using sustainable materials, which were transported by barge across Lake Wanaka and lifted into place by helicopter. Your entire experience is deeply attuned to the landscape, with the Lodge powered primarily by hydroelectricity, and drinking water sourced directly from a nearby waterfall. Operations are also intentionally low impact, with waste removed and recycled off-site to preserve the integrity of the environment.
The location: Situated at an elevation of 3,000 ft (914m) in the upper reaches of the Estuary Burn Valley in the South Island’s Central Otago region.
The property: This is eco-luxury at it's finest in one of the most remote, and remarkable places on Earth. Available for exclusive use for up to 12 guests. The Alpine Lodge is one of the most secluded and private accommodations in the world, with just four private chalets linked by boardwalk to the central Mountain Kitchen.
Piwakawaka Point Estate - Wanaka - South Island
Winter activities: The all-season resort town of Wānaka is only 25 minutes by road, with Queenstown, Mt Aspiring National Park, Milford Sound, Fiordland and Aoraki/ Mt Cook National Parks within easy helicopter access.
Sustainable features: Once stripped by decades of pastoral farming, the land surrounding Piwakawaka is now being carefully restored through one of New Zealand’s most ambitious private conservation projects. Since 2007, more than one million native trees have been planted and three wetlands have been restored. The results are already being felt. Pīwakawaka, Korimako and Tūī are thriving here, and a pair of Kārearea now breed on the property. The long-term vision is even more exciting, with hopes for Branded Rail, Brown Teal and Kiwi to return in time. A stay at Piwakawaka supports a living, breathing conservation legacy.
The location: Set on a 330 acre property bordering lake Wānaka, just 25 minutes from Wānaka township, it’s the perfect base for families, groups of friends or corporate groups to enjoy time out and time together.
The property: The connection with the landscape continues throughout this 1300 square metre home. It has 6 beautifully appointed guest suites, which can accommodate up to 14 guests, a media and games room, library and study, wine cave, full gym with sauna and bathroom and a significant art collection.
